{"id":1441,"date":"2025-04-16T08:59:43","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T08:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/concilio.velstudio.it\/?p=1441"},"modified":"2025-04-16T08:59:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T08:59:44","slug":"earth-air-fire-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/concilioeuropeodellarte.org\/en\/progetti\/exhibitions\/earth-air-fire-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Earth, Air, Fire &amp; Water"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Curators<\/strong>: Richard David Garst and Pongdej Chaiyakut<br><br>Known for his fusion of\u00a0<strong>Thai cultural symbolism<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>concepts<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>techniques<\/strong>\u00a0acquired from his education and extensive travels and life in his homeland of Thailand and adopted home, of fifty years, in Southern California, USA, Tassananchalee\u2019s sculptures installed in the pavilion incorporate light, both natural and artificial, to illuminate their cut stencil elements, animating compositions representing the four fundamental elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. In the manner of the ancient Thai Shadow Puppet, a recurring motif in the artist\u2019s oeuvre, the sculptures attempt to invoke the imagination of the audience to envision themselves enveloped in this world of elements and \u201creflect on both the current \u201cstate of things\u201d and the \u201cappearance of things\u201d.<br><br>Usually these classical elements relate to ancient\u00a0<strong>philosophical concepts<\/strong>\u00a0which today are generally compared to the contemporary \u201cstates of matter\u201d. The solid state, gaseous state, plasma and liquid state. In Buddhist philosophy the four elements are viewed not as substances but rather as categories of sensory experience.<br>The\u00a0<strong>concept<\/strong>\u00a0behind Tassananchalee\u2019s choice of his theme is, that regardless of how far the world has progressed and regardless what paths \u201cAll the World\u2019s Futures\u201d may take, the basic constituent elements of life are eternal.<br><br>Kamol adds that his 8\u00d75 m sculpture will be installed at the exterior of the pavilion. Although it is intended to be laid on the ground, for the show it will be placed on a base.
